Who are we?

Shelly and Gareth, the owners, have been involved in healthcare and social care for a number of years in a variety of different roles and positions. Their past experience within large companies, made them realise there were things that could be done differently. Shelly and Gareth first started working together in 2013 for a company called There To Care. Within their roles, they supported the company to grow and become professional. Eddie Brooks, the owner of There To Care, Had a vision of social care that had principles and ethics revolving around person-centred care.

Independence First Limited was set up with the sole intention of continuing this vision after There To Care closed. The high standard of care that had been provided for many years would continue within our family of carers and the commitment to go the extra mile.

We currently offer support to all adults who wish to gain or maintain their independence with their own homes and social inclusion within the community.

Our philosophy will always be to provide affordable, reliable support where quality and reliability are the only options. Give everyone the independence they deserve.

  • Whatever the disability, we’ll support and assist as needed to maximise the client’s quality of life.
  • We are absolutely determined to help people live well with illness.
  • We value people as individuals, and this is reflected in our staff in our team and the care they provide.
  • We regularly engage with our clients and families to ask for feedback.
  • We support individuals and help them take control of their money and develop their skills to manage their day-to-day finances so that they can live the life they want.
  • All staff are DBS checked and trained.
  • We treat everyone equally, with dignity and respect.
  • We support a wide range of clients and offer individual care plans and assessments to match their needs, this can be for the Elderly, Dementia, Autism, ADHD, Learning difficulties, MS and more.
